First off, a much needed happy new year to one and all. We hope that you had a fantastic break over the Christmas period and that you’re settling back into your real lives again as we speak. We’ve still got a bit of the Christmas cheer here at Iron Star Media and we’re happy to announce this week’s free game asset giveaway.
This week’s giveaway is a pack of basic sound effects built by our own fair hands. Sound effects in this pack range from blips and beeps for your user interfaces to a fairly random assortment of sounds such as squishes, clunks and scrapes. A full list of the files in this pack is available below.

As usual, these assets were all 100% generated by Iron Star Media, so you can be certain that the Creative Commons licence applies to all material. You can do pretty much what you like with these sounds effects, short of simply selling them as part of a CD/download or any other pack.
When you’re ready to take the plunge, download the Iron Star Media Free Game Assets Pack 06 – Over 55 Basic Sound Effects and simply drop these sound effects into your XNA or iPhone projects.
The free game assets on this site are released under the Creative Commons Attribution Licence. This basically means that you can download them, use them in your game(s) and modify them as you like. If you use them in your games, we’d appreciate a small mention somewhere in the credits / on the website (and a free copy of the game would be cool!). Basically, the only thing we don’t want you to do with our assets is sell them as assets to other developers.

Awesome! I love that you are continually putting out more free game assets. Have you ever thought of recording live samples of actual real world sounds? I think that could help improve the quality of some samples… maybe you are already doing that.
Keep up the good work!

Hey Kainazzzo,
First of all – many thanks for the positive comment about the game assets. We were actually discussing today about where we could go for some more advanced and varied sound effects! The sounds in this pack were half and half of sampled sounds and ones generated from scratch with Audacity. We’re working on a bit of software that will hopefully be useful for sound effect artists, but that’s very early in production at the moment.
We’re going to invest in a better microphone next time around, and so the next pack of sound effects will hopefully be more varied and of a higher quality
.
Many thanks again for the support. Best of luck in your game development trails!

Thank-you very much for creating this website!
I am an independent programmer and game developer. I have not at it very long and resources like these make belonging to the development community a pleasure.
I will certainly pass along all due credit for the sound files.
Best regards and a happy new year to all at IronStarMedia!
